HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Friday was graduation day for the newest class of adult correctional officers.

Eighteen recruits completed the nine-week classroom and physical training to become ACOs, learning crisis intervention, security and self-defense.

The class held its graduation at Pagoda Hotel, and will go on to serve at correctional centers or facilities across the state.

“These new corrections officers spent many hours in the classroom and in field training,” said Sergeant Avery Gomes, BCT Sergeant in Charge.

“Being a correctional officer in a prison or jail is one of the toughest jobs anyone can do, but it can also be rewarding too. These individuals chose a unique career path and I know they have what it takes to be successful in a challenging environment.”
