A portion of Waialae Avenue remains closed in both directions between 14th and 15th Avenues because of a water main break and gas leak, according to Honolulu police.

Crews first responded to both issues just after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

As of 3:30 p.m., Board of Water Supply crews are still making repairs to a nearby gas line and will initiate water main repairs immediately after the gas line repairs are complete.

Road closures on Waialae Avenue are expected to continue into the afternoon and overnight. Motorists are being advised to take alternate routes.

24 customers are currently without service, and affected customers may collect water from a water wagon positioned at the intersection of 14th Avenue and Mahina Street.
