Search for missing Honolulu teen continues into second week

HONOLULU (AP) - Friends and family of a missing Honolulu teenager say they will continue searching for the boy in the second week since his disappearance.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that 16-year-old Noah Montemayor was last seen going to bed at home last Tuesday. Police say he was reported missing the next morning.

Montemayor's cousin Matthew Alfelor says he thinks the teen is still alive and is holding out hope for his return.

Honolulu Police Department missing persons detective Mike Garcia said Monday that tips have been coming in every day.

Private investigator Elise Johnson was hired by Montemayor's parents and says they suspect academic pressure may have prompted him to leave.

Some of the teenager's belongings were found on the Makapuu Lighthouse Trail on the afternoon he was reported missing.
