A swell generated by Hurricane Oho, to the east of the state, will create advisory-level surf for parts of the Big Island.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for east-facing shores of the Big Island until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Forecasters said surf will be between 6 to 10 feet.

Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous.
