Security exercise to take place at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Military officials want to inform the public that a harbor security exercise will be held this week at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

As part of the exercise, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, blank ammunition simulating live fire and increased activity in the harbor can be expected. Those in the area – including visitors to the USS Arizona Memorial, Battleship Missouri Memorial and Pacific Aviation Museum – may hear announcements, sirens and other loud noises.

The exercises are not in response to a specific threat, officials said.

The harbor exercise is part of “Exercise Citadel Protect-15” that aims to enhance training, readiness and capability of Navy security forces to respond to threats to installations, commands and units.
