The Kauai Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a wanted fugitive who evaded capture in Kilauea on Tuesday.

Ray Kuna Harada, 43, of Kapaa, is wanted on two separate bench warrants with a total bail of $200,000.

Police located Harada on Tuesday morning along a steep hillside at the end of North Waiakula Road, near a dirt trail that leads to Pilaa Beach. Harada violently resisted arrest, eventually biting an officer to escape. He then fled on foot into steep terrain with thick vegetation.

Two officers were treated for injuries following the incident. They were treated and released from Wilcox Hospital later that day.

Police continue their search for Harada and are asking that anyone with information contact police immediately.  Harada is considered dangerous and the public should not attempt to make contact with him but instead call KPD immediately.

Information can be provided to Police Dispatch at 241-1711. Anonymous tipsters may call CrimeStoppers at 246-8300.
