Three Hawaii schools have received a national award that recognizes overall academic excellence.

On Tuesday, September 29, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard announced that Kaelepulu Elementary, Hahione Elementary, and Palisades Elementary all earned the title of “2015 Blue Ribbon School” by the U.S. Department of Education.

“Congratulations to the principals, educators, and faculty at Kaelepulu Elementary in Kailua, Hahaione Elementary in Hawaii Kai, and Palisades Elementary in Pearl City upon being named 2015 Blue Ribbon Schools,” said Gabbard. “Your dedication to Hawaii’s students and their families has been known throughout the community, but today, your accomplishments are being affirmed by recognition on the national stage. Mahalo for your work to educate the future leaders of Hawaii.” She continued.

The 335 schools awarded with the “2015 Blue Ribbon School” title will be formally recognized at a ceremony on November 9 and 10 in Washington, DC. At the event, each school will be presented with an award plaque and a flag as symbols of their accomplishments.
