TheHandi-Van announces new Vice President

Oahu Transit Services, Inc. (OTS) on Wednesday announced the hiring of the new Paratransit Vice President to take the helm of TheHandi-Van service starting Thursday, October 1, 2015.

Charlotte L. Townsend has worked with and has been an advocate for Persons with a Disability for the last 35 years. 

In a statement, Oahu Transit Services  said Townsend’s current position at the State Department of Health, Disability and Communications Access Board, and previous work with nonprofits and educational institutions such as Abilities Unlimited (aka Winners at Work), Autistic Vocational Education Center, and her positions as a Board member of Very Special Arts and Hawaii Commission for National & Community Services have kept her focused on providing the best quality of life for the disability community. 

Townsend's past membership and affiliations include the Rehabilitation Association of Hawaii, National Rehabilitation Association, The Arc, Protection and Advocacy Agency of Hawaii, the National Rehabilitation Counselors Association, State of Hawaii Commission on the Handicapped, and President's Committee for Employment on the Handicapped.

"We welcome the wealth of knowledge and experience that Charlotte will bring to TheHandi-Van," said Roger Morton, President and General Manager for Oahu Transit Services, Inc. 

As the new Vice President of the division, she will be in charge of para transportation operations and policy making. She will oversee 400 employees.
