HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Heavy rains associated with a tropical depression south of the Hawaiian islands have prompted the state Department of Health to issue a Brown Water Advisory for several beaches.

The following beaches are impacted:

Oahu:

  • Ala Moana (Magic Island)
  • Bellows Beach
  • Waimea Bay

Maui:

  • Honokahua Bay
  • Honolua Bay

DOH advises staying out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and associated flood debris.

Not all coastal areas may be impacted by runoff; however, if the water is brown, stay out.
