HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police have opened a third-degree assault and reckless endangerment case after a woman was injured near the Convention Center on Monday.

Police said it appears a woman suffered injuries consistent with an assault after an incident in which two groups were involved in an altercation near Kalauokalani Way. Witnesses told officers one of the individuals had a gun and fired shots.

Although no shell casings were recovered, police are still searching for a possible gunman.

Emergency Medical Services said the female refused treatment at scene.

No other injuries were reported.
