WAIKOLOA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 49-year-old man died Thursday following a vehicle crash in Waikoloa, according to Big Island police.
South Kohala patrol officers responded at around 2:40 p.m. to Waikoloa Road. Police said Robert J. Cooley of Hilo was driving east in a 2004 Nissan Altima when he ran off the right side of the road and rolled onto a small rock embankment.
Emergency crews transported Cooley to North Hawaii Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Cooley may have suffered a medical condition prior to the collision.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine his exact cause of death.
