[Update 3 a.m.]
The Flood Advisory has been canceled.
A Flood Advisory has been issued for parts of Maui early Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
The Flood Advisory is in effect until 4 a.m.
At 12:50 a.m., radar and stream gauge data showed moderate rain persisting over the west Maui mountains.
Locations in the advisory include, but arenot limited to Kahului, Lahaina, Waikapu, Wailuku, Honokowai, Waiehu, Waihee-Waiehu and Napili-Honokowai.
Officials advise staying away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions as a result of ponding.
This advisory may need to be extended beyond 4 a.m. if heavy rain persists.
