Veterans Affairs will be hosting their first Veterans Treatment Court mentor recruitment and training event on Thursday, September 15.
The "Be a Mentor, Bring a Mentor" event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oahu Veterans Center. The event was created by Veterans Affairs, Hawaii State Judiciary and the Department of Defense to train and recruit current and potential Veterans Treatment Court mentors.
Community leaders, such as Major General Logan, Wayne Pfeffer, Judge Edward Kubo, Ron Han and Gary Shimabukuro, will be at the event to give motivational speeches to all mentors.
The Veterans Treatment Court addresses the trauma that veterans face in combat and other service related experiences. Mentors who attend the "Be a Mentor, Bring a Mentor" event will assist fellow veterans in the judicial system to build back their lives in a positive and constructive matter.
