Megan Huff leaves UH Women's Volleyball Team

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawai'i women's volleyball player Megan Huff has decided to leave the volleyball program to focus on playing women's basketball later this year.

Huff has played eight sets in six matches and has recorded seven kills with one block assist this season.  For her career, she appeared in 22 total matches contributing 23 kills and 15 blocks.

The 6-3 native of Federal Way, Wash. played both sports last year as a freshman. In basketball, she was named Big West Sixth Player of the Year and earned a spot on the conference's All-Freshman team as well. Last season in hoops, she averaged 16.9 minutes with 7.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game with 20 blocked shots.

"I just want to say 'Thank You' to volleyball for the support I experienced through my freshman and sophomore years," said Huff. "But, I had to make one of the toughest decisions of my life to focus on one sport to better my future."

"Megan meant a lot to the volleyball program, so we are disappointed in her decision," said head coach Dave Shoji. "But, she is doing what she feels she needs to do to further her athletic career and we wish her the best."
