Police say Kapolei saw 2 sexual assault attempts in 24 hours

HONOLULU (AP) - Police say there have been two attempted sexual assaults within 24 hours of each other on neighborhood sidewalks in Kapolei.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that police say the attacks were on Wednesday at about 12:45 a.m. and 11:20 p.m.

CrimeStoppers coordinator Sgt. Kim Buffett says police don't know if the same person is responsible for both incidents, but the descriptions the victims gave police are similar.

During the first incident, police say a man grabbed a woman by the neck, pulled her into a bush and attempted to sexually assault her. She was able to escape.

Police say the man in the second attack had a knife and forced a woman to the ground, attempted to sexually assault her and then suddenly ran away.
