KILAUEA, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - [Update 9/10/15]
The water shutdown has been canceled, but the Department of Water plans to reschedule it for later. A date has not been given as of yet.
A 10-hour water shutdown has been scheduled for customers in Kilauea in mid-September, according to the Department of Water.
The shutdown will occur from 6 p.m. on Sept. 13 to 4 a.m. on Sept. 14 so that a contractor can connect a new water main that will help improve the water system for Kilauea Elementary School.
Customers from Kahili Makai Street to Kalihiwai Road will not have water during the shutdown. In addition, nearby residents may experience low water pressure or intermittent water outages.
The DOW will provide two water buffaloes for affected customers. However, they will need to bring their own containers.
For more information, call the DOW at (808) 245-5455.
