HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - On Saturday, at 11:31 p.m. the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a two-alarm building fire located at 1980 Puowaina Drive with ten fire companies staffed with 39 personnel.
The first HFD unit arrived at 11:36 p.m. to find a three-story multi-family dwelling with the top level engulfed in fire.
Personnel established command, secured a water source and initiated a fire attack utilizing foam to suppress the flames and protect exposed neighboring structures.
The fire was brought under control by 12:23 a.m. and fully extinguished at 12:52 a.m.
It was reported that one adult female was home at the time of the fire and was able to evacuate without injury.
HFD fire investigators estimated date at $200,000 to the structure and $30,000 to its contents. The top section of the hillside terraced home is considered to be a total loss and is a collapse hazard. The cause will remain undetermined because of point of origin of the fire is inaccessible, said investigators.
