KALIHI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

One byproduct of the heavy storms across the Pacific has been stretches of hot, muggy weather in Hawaii.

Across Oahu, consumers are rushing to get air conditioners.  Businesses are feeling the impact.   Kris Louie of Air Masters, admitting demand has been outpacing supply this summer.

"The phones have been ringing off the hook.  Right now we're at about two weeks for an estimate for us to come out and look at your home and three weeks for an installation".

Air Masters usually does same day or same week estimates.  The company has four crews installing up to 4 units a day, 6 days a week.  That’s 96 A/C's a week.

They're extremely busy, but not alone.

"A constant flow towards the back of the store" is how City Mill Honolulu Assistant Manager Ron Souza describes it.  "People want to sleep at night, in the bedroom, so those are going really fast, we're having trouble keeping them on stock" he continued.

City Mill has even sourced from alternate vendors to keep a stock on hand.  Souza says its good practice to go the extra mile for customers, and thinks they should do so for themselves, too.

"It is worth it to have that A/C in your house.  There's no place like home".
