MANOA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The UH football team kicks off its season Thursday against Colorado. As of midday Monday, only 15,007 season tickets had been sold. That's well off last year's 17,224, and on pace for the lowest number on record.
On campus, students were tepid about the CU game, and season ahead.
"No offense, but our record hasn't been the best these past couple years" said Royce Masuda.
"I got a lot of homework" said Ulu Matagiese. Back in the good ole days going to the game was the excuse for not doing homework, not the other way around. She does have a point, however.
A 7pm kickoff on the Thursday night no less, means students will have to complete classes and battle traffic just to make kickoff. Add another 4 and a half hours for the game and return traffic, and that makes for a tough Friday with
more classes. Still, this is the football season opener!
"I just want to go to raise that school spirit up". Jason Dela Cruz is going, as is Shane Swift.
"I'm from Colorado, so whenever a Colorado team comes I go to that game" Swift said.
At this point, officials will take any and all comers.
