Rainbow Wahine volleyball at the Stan Sheriff Center.
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
When the AVCA women's volleyball coaches rankings were unveiled earlier this month, it had been more than 30 years since University of Hawaii head coach Dave Shoji had seen his Rainbow Wahine ranked as low as 18th.
If the Wahine continue to play as well as they did during the opening weekend of the 2015 season, they won't have to worry about that ranking for long.
Led by the strong play of junior Nikki Taylor, the Rainbow Wahine knocked off Oregon State on Sunday to make it a clean sweep of their three opponents in the Chevron Invitational. The 'Bows also beat Idaho in straight sets on Friday before winning Saturday's match against Wichita State.
Senior middle hitter Olivia Magill and junior setter Tayler Higgens joined Taylor, the invitational's Most Outstanding Player, on the All-Tournament Team. They were joined by Idaho's Becca Mau, Oregon State's Mary-Kay Marshall, and Abbie Lehman and Dani Mostrom, both of Wichita State.
Hawaii next plays on Friday, when they host the University of Iowa at the Stan Sheriff Center.
