Kauai police seek information about string of suspicious brush fires

LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai police are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who has information that could lead to an arrest in connection with suspicious brush fires that have occurred across the island.

"These fires have frustrated the community for far too long and our ability to offer a large cash reward to anonymous tipsters might motivate anyone with information to report it to police," stated Lt. Mark Ozaki, manager of the CrimeStoppers program. "We're asking citizens to be aware of your surroundings, and should you notice suspicious activity, even if you're unsure, call it in."

Authorities believe more than 100 brush fires have been intentionally set over the last eight months.

Those with additional information are asked to call CrimeStoppers at (808) 246-8300.
