WAIPAHU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man wanted for first-degree murder in Nashville, Tenn. has been found in Hawaii and is in Honolulu Police Department custody Friday morning.
Brandon Malik Horton, 19, was arrested by U.S. Marshals and the ICE Task Force Thursday evening at an apartment on Ishibashi Lane in Aliamanu.
Horton is charged with first-degree murder in Tennessee in connection with the shooting death of Craig Lambert at a Nashville park on March 30.
WSMV-TV, a station affiliate, reported that Lambert's death was initially ruled accidental because witnesses said a gun fired when he dropped it while petting a cat. But last week, police ruled the death a homicide based on autopsy results and other clues that emerged.
Horton was a college student at Tennessee State University at the time of the alleged killing. A warrant for his arrest was issued in July.
He has relatives in Hawaii and was reportedly hiding here during the summer.
