HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The U.S. Coast Guard on Thursday responded to a sailboat that was on fire a couple miles offshore from Sand Island.
Coast Guard officials said at around 9 a.m. they received reports of possible smoke coming from a sailboat.
Crews used two Coast Guard boats to reach the 50-to-55-foot sailboat called Ka Imi Jai, which was already extinguished when they arrived.
According to the Coast Guard, five people were on board. However, no injuries were reported.
The vessel is being towed back to Honolulu Harbor.
