Firefighters respond to 3-alarm fire in Waikiki

WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Nearly 50 firefighters responded to a three-alarm building fire Sunday at the Royal Aloha Condominium.

The Honolulu Fire Department said companies arrived at around 3:40 p.m. to find smoke and flames emanating from the 13th floor of the 16-story high-rise building on Ala Wai Boulevard. Upon entry, firefighters discovered the fire started from the exterior lanai.

The fire was brought under control by 3:50 p.m.

Emergency Medical Services personnel treated one person who was injured by broken glass when accessing the cabinet fire hose, according to HFD.

Fire damages have been estimated at $6,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
