BLOG: Flooding closes roads across state

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Heavy downpours and flooding Monday are impacting roads all across the state, from heavy traffic to stalled vehicles to road closures. We'll continue to add to this list as major traffic incidents and road closures are reported.

Maui:

  • Crater Road near Haleakala - CLOSED as of 9 a.m.
  • Hana Highway, between mile markers 29 and 36 - REOPENED
  • Piilani Highway, between mile markers 38 and 25 - CLOSED as of 9:30 a.m.
  • Ulaino Road - CLOSED as of 11 a.m.
  • Waikoloa Road - CLOSED as of 11 a.m.
  • Kipahulu to Ulupalakua - CLOSED

Oahu:

  • Ala Moana Beach Park: Atkinson Dr. entrance is CLOSED due to sewage spills. Ewa entrance is OPEN.
  • Manoa:  The 3800 block of Round Top Drive - CLOSED in both directions due to a downed tree as of 11:30 a.m. 
  • Kailua:  Kapaa Quarry Road, between Mokapu Boulevard to triangle air field - REOPENED as of 6 a.m. (Only semi trucks are allowed.)
  • Waikane:  Kamehameha Highway, between Haupoa Street to Waikane Valley Road - REOPENED at 8:10 a.m.
