WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) - A man says he was robbed at gunpoint while enjoying an afternoon at the beach at Mai-poina-oe-iau Park.
The Maui News reports that Bill Mead says two men came around a sand dune while he was sitting alone on the beach Friday afternoon.
He says one man pointed a shotgun in his face and cycled the pump action while the other demanded his car keys.
Mead said he told the men he didn't have a car, so they grabbed his work cellphone and watch before running off.
There were multiple police cars at the scene but police did not respond to a request for more information.
Kihei Community Association president Mike Moran said he was surprised to hear about the robbery and does not know about any similar robberies.
