HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - First-year University of Hawaii men's basketball coach Eran Ganot has yet to make his debut on the sidelines of the Stan Sheriff Center, but he's already suffered a key loss.
Assistant coach Norm Parrish has accepted the vacant head coaching position at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, a University of Hawaii athletics department spokesperson said Thursday.
Parrish was hired by Ganot in May following four years as the Director of Basketball Operations at the University of Utah. He previously spent 20 years as the head coach at Salt Lake Community College.
"It is with mixed emotions that I have accepted the head coaching position at Westminster College," said Parrish. "I have truly enjoyed my time at the University of Hawai'i and have definitely felt the aloha spirit of this community and institution. I appreciate the chance that Coach Ganot gave me and am grateful for the chance I had to work with him and the outstanding staff he has assembled."
School officials say the search for Parrish's replacement is currently underway.
