Pablo Fiesta, Jr. was charged with second-degree murder at 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday. His bail was set at $500,000.
He was still in custody as of Thursday at 4 a.m.
The Medical Examiner's Office determined that the victim, 43-year-old Cecilia Fiesta, died of multiple stab wounds to the torso.
The man accused of a brutal Salt Lake fatal stabbing has been taken into police custody.
Police have arrested 46-year-old Pablo Fiesta, Jr., who is accused of stabbing his wife to death in front of their 10-year-old daughter.
Fiesta was spotted outside the Salt Lake Public Library just before 9 p.m. Tuesday when police arrested him and brought him in for questioning. He had no identification on him.

Honolulu police have opened a homicide investigation after a 43-year-old woman died of multiple stab wounds late Monday night.
Around 8:15 p.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a stabbing at a home on Puolo Drive in Salt Lake. When police arrived, they found the unresponsive victim lying on the floor with multiple injuries in a room towards the back part of the property.
Emergency Medical Services said she had been stabbed mulitple times. She was rushed in extremely critical condition to the closest medical facility, which was the Kaiser emergency room, where she later died.
Police are searching for the victim's 46-year-old husband in connection with the murder investigation.
A resident living at the property says the couple lived there with their two daughters. She believes the younger, school-aged child, was home at the time of the crime.
Police have opened a second degree Murder investigation into her death. The Honolulu Medical Examiner is expected to perform an autopsy sometime today.
