Mayor Caldwell talks HPD guns and not delaying rail

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

As part of our "Ask the Mayor" series, Honolulu mayor Kirk Caldwell appeared on Sunrise. In this segment, he tells us why the Honolulu Police Department didn't sell its old guns, which some say could have brought in $500,000. Also, he gives an update on the homeless shelter that is being built on Sand Island. Plus, he tackles City Council Chair Ernie Martin's assertion that delaying the rail project could save the city money in the long run. Mayor Caldwell says it's critical to get bids in as soon as possible so that it won't delay the $6 bn project or jeopardize federal funds.
