Top Maui tourist destination closed indefinitely after equipment was stolen

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - One of Maui's top tourist destinations is closed indefinitely because thieves stole some critical equipment.

Officials say on Tuesday, someone stole equipment that monitors the water levels of Ohe'o stream, which feeds the famous Seven Sacred Pools in Haleakala National Park.

The equipment sounds an alarm whenever flash flooding is imminent.

Park officials say it will take weeks for new equipment to be flown in and installed.
