U.S. Coast Guard seeks help in locating missing Big Island man

KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking help from the public in locating a missing Big Island man near Pahoehoe Beach.

On Sunday, a woman called the Coast Guard saying she saw a man leave his vehicle with a large bag and a brown wooden kayak with metal oars enter the ocean at around 6:45 p.m. However, he did not return and his vehicle remained parked at the beach.

The Hawaii Police Department determined that the vehicle was registered to a man named Gregory Voight, who’s in his 40s. His car was still parked at the beach at last check.

The Coast Guard has no reports of missing persons or distress, but is still asking for assistance.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Coast Guard at (808) 842-2600.
