HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Congratulations to local entertainer Tim Rose! His CD release party is coming up tonight at Crossroads at Hawaiian Brian's. Earlier this year, you saw Tim Rose on Sunrise as he launched his successful Kickstarter campaign to fund his project. That party will be starting at 8:00pm tonight and to until 2am, tickets are $15 at the door. Helping to celebrate tonight Kim June, Izik Moreno, Simple Souls, Lost at Sea, The Deadbeats, and of course Tim Rose and his band.
Musicians Jack Johnson and Jake Shimabukuro helped to celebrate the launch of "Turnaround Arts Hawaii" at Kalihi Kai Elementary School. It's a 3-year national program to introduce arts in the curriculum. Actress Alfree Woodard, who appeared in 'Desperate Housewives' and the movie '12 Years A Slave' also helped with the launch. Nationwide -- the program has resulted in an increase in math and reading test scores. Kamaile Academy and Waianae Elementary will also get money for teacher training, art supplies, and music instruments.
Rehearsals for the Henry Kapono and Friends "Back in the Day" concert are underway. Henry posted some photos of the sessions yesterday. He wrote on Facebook, "With Mailani, Taimane and Aiden James. Was really exciting to feel they're enthusiasm and they're talent. I was blown away. So inspiring. You'll be surprised on the 22nd at they're performance. I will be as well."
Kuana Torres Kahele has received some great fan art from his movie Lava. Posting on Facebook he said: "I LAVA FAN ART! I get such a kick out of people uploading their version of the LAVA song to YouTube and the Fan Art being created is pretty incredible!
