No tsunami threat to Hawaii after 6.8-magnitude quake near Solomon Islands

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A large earthquake shook the Solomon Islands Wednesday morning, but it was not strong enough to generate a tsunami warning to Hawaii, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The quake, which struck around 8:50 a.m. HST, was initially measured at a magnitude of 6.8.

No injuries or damages have been reported.
