A couple of water main breaks in the Aiea area may affect traffic flow on Wednesday as crews close off roads to make repairs.

Honolulu police have closed off an eastbound lane of Moanalua Road, from Pono Street to Moanalua Loop, due to a break that happened early Wednesday morning.

Board of Water Supply crews are on scene making repairs to the 12-inch main, and work is likely to continue through the day. Approximately seven customers are without water, BWS said.

A separate water main break that happened Tuesday at around 11:30 a.m. also shut down an area of Kamehameha Highway. Only one westbound lane is open near Salt Lake Boulevard after a water valve burst, spilling water onto the road.

The water main is owned by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Hawaii, and crews are still making repairs as of Wednesday morning.  Officials said work could continue until Thursday, so drivers should expect delays.

The cause of the broken valve is still under investigation, but officials said it happened when Honolulu rail construction crews were trying to move the water main.

We'll continue to post updates to this story as they become available.
