KAPAAU, Hawaii (AP) - Police say it appears a 32-year-old Big Island man killed himself when his rifle accidentally discharged.
Aaron Kondo's family members were worried when he didn't return home to Hawi from checking on pig traps Saturday.
Police say when they went to find him in Kapaau, he was unresponsive next to his truck with a gunshot wound on the left side of his chest.
Detectives determined that when Kondo went to pull the rifle out of the cab of his truck, something inside caught on the gun's trigger, causing it to discharge.
An autopsy will be conducted.
