A man in his 40s died Wednesday on a United Airlines flight headed to Hilo, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The man was on UAL 1004, which took off from Los Angeles, Calif. and landed on the Big Island at about 7:40 p.m.
United Airlines also confirmed a man died, but both the airline and DOT could not provide further details.
Ronald Smith, a passenger on the plane, told Hawaii News Now he was one of the individuals who tried to revive the man, but was unsuccessful.
