Suspect caught on camera stealing from Waikoloa boutique

WAIKOLOA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a woman who was caught stealing from a boutique on the Big Island.

The thief was caught on camera stealing $780 worth of merchandise from Persimmon Boutique at Queen's Marketplace in Waikoloa.

Officials say the woman stole earrings and necklaces made by local jewelers as well as some body cream.

The boutique's manager, Jackie Grenier, says she was shocked and hurt when she found out her store was hit.

"Our shop is locally owned and operated, so it felt very personal, kind of like she was stealing from all of our pockets," Grenier said. "It all happened within that three minute time from 12:15 p.m. to 12:18 p.m. and our employee greeted her and actually had a conversation with her in front of the store. And that's how we found out she lived here."

If you have any tips, call Big Island police.
