The Hawaii Regional Council of Carpenters is holding it's first ever job fair.
They're looking to recruit up to 500 experienced carpenters, drywall installers, welders and millwrights to meet the growing demand for skilled manpower.
Hawaii's largest contractors – Nordic PCL, Hawaiian Dredging, Swinerton Builders, Group Builders, and Kiewit – will also be on hand to interview and hire qualified applicants.
Contractors are prepared to make job offers on the spot.
The job fair is a great example of contractors and the carpenters union working together to proactively prepare for projects that are coming online during the second half of the year.
Experienced carpenters earn more than $40 an hour and receive a generous benefits package that includes medical insurance and a 401(k).
The job fair will be held on Saturday, August 8, from 8 am – noon at the Hawaii Carpenters & Drywall Training Fund Center at 2040 Lauwiliwili Street in Kapolei.
