Monthly siren testing takes place across state

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Residents may hear sirens Monday as the Hawaii State Civil Defense conducts its monthly testing.

The sirens will sound at 11:45 a.m. and residents will hear a one-minute steady tone.

During an actual emergency, residents are asked to turn to any radio or television station for further information.

Residents in West Oahu regions may also hearing a "whooping" tone following the siren test. This is a test of the Hazardous Materials Incident outdoor siren warning group that will be activated in the event of a HAZMAT incident.

The following areas will be affected:

  • Campbell Industrial Park
  • Honokai Hale
  • Makakilo, Kapolei Regional Park
  • Kapolei Golf Course
  • Coast Guard Station at Kalaeloa

To report problems with the siren system, call (808) 723-8960.
