Honolulu police have opened an attempted murder investigation after a man was stabbed on a bike path in the Waimalu area early Monday.
Police were called to the scene behind the Best Buy off Kamehameha Highway around 3 a.m.
Around 4:15 a.m., police arrested a man who was dropped off by a cab driver at the scene following a witness identification. The cab driver indicated that the man appeared to be drunk and that he picked up the suspect at the Anna Miller's restaurant and was asked to take him to Blaisdell Park. En route, the driver said the suspect then saw the police cars near the Best Buy parking lot and asked the driver to drop him off there. That's where an apparent witness identified the suspect to police.
Emergency Medical Services officials say the victim, a man in his 30s to 40s, was transported to the Queen's Medical Center in serious but stable condition with at least one stab wound to his abdomen and multiple cuts to his hands and neck.
