HAWAII KAI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Michael Eletise is considered one of the most sought after recruits in the state of Hawaii from the class of 2016. The Kaiser senior offensive guard has garnered the attention of nearly every major division 1 program during his high school career...a career that he announced, he plans to continue at the University of Arizona...
"I think I'll be a very good fit at u of a you know just cause the way they run their offense and I went there and met the people and I'm gonna fit in with the people there and I'm pretty sure me and the coaches are going to get along great"
The cougar is currently the top ranked recruit at his position throughout the entire west coast, he's also considered the 12th best offensive guard in the nation. But according to his high school coach, Cameron Higgins, Eletise wasn't always the gridiron standout he is today..
"I remember mike when he was in ninth grade and he was a chubby little boy awkward boy and now he's a pretty much a grown man but it's awesome to see how far he's come"
At 6 foot 4 and 300 pounds, the 17 year old runs a sub 5 seconds 40, but despite all his physical gifts, Eletise's strength and conditioning coach, renown trainer, Chad Ikei, says it's his work ethic that's led to his success.
"he has the physical intangibles but he also has a great work ethic ever since he was a freshman in high school when I started working with him to see the improvement from him, where he could barely bench press 130 pounds to where you know he's just toying around with that weight now and squatting over 700lbs now so the work ethic is something that is his family values the mom and taught him well on how to work hard."
