We are just over a month out from the start of the college football season -- and only a week away from the start of training camp for the Rainbow Warriors. This afternoon, two of the newest faces on the UH athletics scene were out spreading the word.
Athletics Director David Matlin and new offensive coordinator Don Bailey were the guest speakers at the Downtown Athletic Club Hawaii luncheon Monday in the heart of Honolulu trying to get those in attendance excited about the upcoming season.
Matlin, who has been on the job exactly three months, says he's hoping to change the fortunes of the football team and overall U-H athletics in general, and he knows that it starts in the community.
"It's been great, there are a lot of supportive people. You know people care. And the fact that they care gives me a lot of hope and encouragement in improving the University of Hawaii Athletics and whole state of Hawaii," said Matlin.
The Downtown Athletic Club presented Matlin with a $30 thousand dollar check to go towards the UH Athletics Department.
