Authorities have identified the employee who died after an industrial accident at the Kekaha Landfill Sunday morning.
Gary Soto, 56, was grading the road at the landfill when he died, officials said. They have not released further details.
The incident, which forced officials to close the landfill on Saturday, remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, the Lihue refuse station opened late on Monday because workers had to clear out a backlog that resulted from the landfill closure.
