HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday for the east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii.
Forecasters said a northeast swell will build Tuesday night to 5 to 8 foot wave face heights and continue through the day Wednesday before declining.
Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice from ocean safety official and exercise caution. Impacts will be moderate, with strong breaking waves and shore breaks, along with strong long shore and rip currents that could make swimming difficult and dangerous.
Forecasters are also anticipating a south swell that could bring advisory, and perhaps even warning level surf Friday into the weekend.
