Foodland announces plans to return to Ala Moana Center
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Locally owned Foodland Super Market, Ltd., Hawaii's largest grocery retailer, announced on Saturday that it will return to Ala Moana Center in 2016.
The store will be located on the street level beneath the new Nordstrom Department Store on Piikoi St., and will employ a team of approximately 100 people.
The 47,395 sq. ft. store will feature The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, R. Field Wine Company,Foodland Pharmacy, an in-store bank and an expanded array of fresh prepared foods.
Foodland Ala Moana closed its doors in December 2014 when the company did not renew its lease.
The proposed 47, 395 sq. ft location will be the company's largest Foodland store.
In an effort to offer added convenience to customers shopping at the center, the store hopes to provide a "will call" service for customers to grocery shop and have their groceries held for pickup at a later time. When ready, shoppers can pull into designated parking stalls in front of the store and have their groceries brought to their car.
Plans for the new store are currently being drafted and construction of the store will commence later this year.
