The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. We are committed to expanding the reach and impact of our mission-critical work in the areas of diabetes research, community programs that promote disease prevention, proper management, advocacy, and public awareness throughout Hawaii.
· Close to 600,000 individuals in Hawaii have prediabetes or diabetes; that means that 1 in every 3 people in Hawaii are affected.
· Each year, 5,000 people in Hawaii are diagnosed with diabetes.
· Diabetes cost our islands over $1.5 billion each year.
