Jon Matsubara is the Chef de Cuisine at Japengo at the Hyatt in Waikiki. He was recently honored with an an extraordinary milestone, he cooked for the James Beard House in New York City. He will serve that same menu at Japengo for a limited time. He was in the Sunrise kitchen cooking up a sample for Steve Uyehara.
Chef Matsubara has also been selected to participate in a new inflight culinary program for Hawaiian Airlines. He and 4 other chefs including Lee Anne Wong of Koko Head Cafe, Wade Ueoka of MW Restaurant, Andrew Le from the Pig and the Lady, and Sheldon Simeon of Mala Wailea will create a dish to be featured in the First Class Cabins of flights from Hawaii to the mainland.
