DLNR officials reopen Kalalau Trail after heavy rain, flooding
KALALAU, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) -
The Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of State Parks reopened the Kalalau Trail Saturday morning after heavy rains and flooding in the area prompted officials to close the park on Friday.
The park was reopened at 7 a.m. after officials observed that the Hanakapiai Stream was reportedly at a normal level.
Authorities are warning the public that flash flooding can occur with little notice. If streams are high or flowing fast, turn around, don't drown.
