The Coast Guard and Hawaii County Fire Department have discovered the body of a missing free diver near Punaluu, Hawai'i, Thursday.
The missing diver is identified as 57-year-old Robert Furtado of Hawaii.
Hawaii County Fire Department divers initially located the man's spear and dive buoy approximately 50 to 100 yards offshore of Punaluu Thursday morning.
Then, around 4:35 p.m., an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter air crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point located the diver floating approximately 600 yards offshore of Punaluu.
Fire officials say he was unresponsive when found. A jet ski brought him to shore where medical services personnel confirmed he had died.
