Have you ever wanted to say thank you to a very special healthcare worker who made a difference in your life but you didn't know how?
Many people feel like sending a card or just saying "thank you" isn't enough. Now you can let that special person know that you think he or she is a "Hawaii Healthcare Hero."
We think this is so important to our community that Hawaii News Now is again joining with the Healthcare Association of Hawaii for the second annual Hawaii Healthcare Heroes program.
Nearly everyone has a story about a healthcare worker who helped them.
This is Hawaii's only patient-nominated recognition, so it's real stories about real-life impact. We don't know of any other patient-nominated recognition program in the country, so it's very special.
These are some of the people who were nominated last year by their patients -- not just for extraordinary care, but for true kindness and concern.
These kinds of people make our community what it is today.
New this year, you can also nominate an emergency health worker such as a paramedic. If you've ever encountered one of them during an emergency, you know these people save more lives than can be counted -- and they do it with true compassion.
Many of us here at the station have been blessed by Hawaii's outstanding healthcare personnel during surgeries, child birth and hospice care for family members.
They've here in our darkest hour, now let's share their heroic stories with the rest of Hawaii and say mahalo to them
